Overview
This video explains Modal Frequency Response Analysis, which evaluates how displacement and stress change with excitation frequency under repeated vibration. It also examines how resonance can increase structural response when the excitation frequency approaches a Natural Frequency.
Frequency Response Analysis Workflow
• Modal Results & Analysis Setup
The existing Modal Analysis model is used to define a 1G vibration acceleration in the Y direction and apply Modal Damping. A Frequency Set is then defined over the frequency range of interest. Natural Frequencies, Mode Shapes, and Mass Participation Factors from the previous Modal Analysis are used to calculate the response at each frequency.
• Mass Participation & Frequency Response
The Mass Participation Factor is reviewed to check whether a sufficient number of modes are included in the modal method. The frequency response graph is then examined to identify the frequency at which the maximum response occurs and to locate the resonance region.
• Displacement & Stress Analysis
Displacement and stress results at the corresponding frequency are reviewed to identify where the structure responds most sensitively and evaluate potential vibration-induced deformation or structural weakness.
The video demonstrates the workflow from Modal Analysis results and frequency-dependent response calculation to resonance identification and structural response evaluation.
