1. The Various Roles and Importance of Automotive Hoses?

Automotive hoses (HOSE) are critical components that perform various roles across multiple systems in a vehicle, each responsible for a different function.

Automotive Hose Operating Environment

First, the radiator hose in the cooling system circulates coolant between the radiator and the engine to dissipate heat generated by the engine, and is manufactured from materials capable of withstanding high-temperature and high-pressure environments.

Second, the fuel hose in the fuel system supplies fuel from the fuel tank to the engine, and must be resistant not only to gasoline and diesel but also to biofuels and other alternatives that have become more common in recent years.

Third, the intake hose (air duct) in the air intake system directs outside air to the engine intake port, supplying the oxygen needed for combustion. In systems equipped with a turbocharger, an intercooler hose that delivers compressed air to the engine is also included.

Fourth, the brake hose in the brake system transmits the hydraulic pressure generated when the brake pedal is depressed to the brake calipers, and is manufactured to be extremely robust since it must safely convey high hydraulic pressure.

Automotive Hose Structure and Components

Fifth, the power steering hose in the power steering system assists the driver in steering more easily through hydraulic pressure, stably delivering the hydraulic pressure required by the system.

Sixth, the PCV hose in the exhaust gas system is part of the crankcase ventilation system that routes crankcase gases back into the combustion chamber, and is an important element for meeting environmental regulations.

As described above, automotive hoses for each system are manufactured from various materials such as rubber, silicone, and metal, and different performance requirements — including heat resistance, pressure resistance, and oil resistance — are specified according to the characteristics of each respective system.

2. What are The Representative Hyper-elastic Models?

3. Mooney-Rivlin Model Configuration

The Mooney-Rivlin model is a mathematical model representing the stress–strain relationship of a material and describes the characteristics of nonlinear elastic bodies. It is used for materials to which Hooke's law (linear model) does not apply ; ductile materials such as rubber undergo large deformations and do not behave linearly, making this model a closer approximation of actual behavior.

In general analysis practice, the model is classified into two types — the basic Mooney-Rivlin and the higher-order Mooney-Rivlin — as described below.
